Supervision

                                                                                      Lao-Tzu

Part of my professional life involves the supervision of therapists/counselors in training.   I truly enjoy imparting what I know and what I don't know about the mysterious art of psychotherapy.

I began my journey as a supervisor when employed by Dekalb Medical Center, Decatur, Georgia, in the mid 70s to mid 80s.   Since my licensure I have supervised approximately 55 clinicians in their sojourn as therapists.   I am currently an Adjunct Instructor in the Counseling Department at Mercer University, Atlanta, Georgia, where I work with graduate counseling students.   I also see supervisees privately both for licensure and for more experienced clinicians desiring to increase their expertise in one of my competency areas.   These include archetypal, transpersonal, mythopoetics and existential modalities.

Supervision is a mutual quest of self/professional discovery.  One of the many beauties of being called to do psychotherapy is the ongoing, life long learning involved.  As your supervisor, I will focus a great deal on how your personal sojourn impacts the therapeutic relationship.  You may download more information about group supervision here, or please feel free to call me to discuss.

I am currently seeking individuals who are desirous of private supervision.  Supervision group meets monthly, usually on the first Friday, from 3 to 5 PM.  All supervisees are currently required to participate in both group and individual supervision.

I also provide supervision of supervision, both individually and with groups.  I particularly enjoy consulting with peer supervision groups short term.  In this context I provide a fresh perspective, especially with groups which feel stagnant in their process.
