An Introduction to Mesa Work

The mesa is a tool for accessing the innermost aspects of self and the Larger Self.  The mesa is a sacred ground where the individual soul of the mesa carrier and the World Soul converge and dialogue in a holy relationship.  Mesa is interpreted as “altar table.”  The mesa is a ceremonial ground used for healing, personal and planetary transformation, divination, and accessing the Otherworld.  Working with the mesa is a path of beauty, ecstasy and service.

In this gathering we will explore some underlying cosmological principles and the organization of the mesa.  Much of the weekend is spent in ceremonial work demonstrating the use of the mesa in healing and co-creation of reality.  The workshop is open to beginners and advanced students.  Although based and focused on both the Q’ero (southern Andean indigenous people) and Huachuma (northern Peruvian coastal) mesa, this work consciously includes elements of other traditions in order to honor the universal application of the mesa and the Age of Weaving of Traditions.

Each participant will bring the components of a basic mesa:

A manta, or ceremonial cloth, which is the ground for the mesa.

Cornmeal (preferably blue), tobacco and three bay leaves (consecration for the mesa)

A central piece of personal spiritual significance

A crystal or stone, shell, feather and white candle for the cardinal directions

Any additional items with which you wish to work on your mesa (optional)
